Bio
William Upchurch is the Executive Director of the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission; a position he has held since its inception in 2001. Prior to his work with the commission, Upchurch spent nearly a decade working for the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, first giving daily radio broadcasts on commodity prices and trends; and later serving as a cotton marketing specialist and administrator of the department’s tobacco program. He has served on several state and local boards including the Town of Cary’s Zoning Board of Adjustment. He is a former President of the NCSU CALS Alumni and Friends Society and recently received the Honorary American Farmer Degree from the National FFA Organization. Upchurch, who holds a degree in agricultural education and extension from N.C. State University, still works and lives on the family farm in Wake County with his wife Amanda and youngest son, Will.
