Bio
Chad Benton had an interest in science and discovery from an early age – surrounded by animals and agriculture on his grandparent’s farm. After graduation, Benton accepted a research position at BASF Corporation. While expanding his roles and responsibilities at the company, he continued his education at Virginia Tech, earning a master’s degree in agricultural and life sciences. Benton has been with BASF for more than 15 years and currently serves as R&D Associate Portfolio Manager. In 2015, he was honored with the BASF Research Achievement Award, and in 2021 as a CALS Outstanding Alumni. Benton currently serves as president of the CALS Alumni and Friends Society, a member of the Agricultural Foundation Board, and volunteers at his church in Raleigh as a music director and musician.
