Roger is a native of Thomasville, NC, and currently resides in Greensboro. He was a founding member of this Board in 2006 and has remained a member as permitted by the By-Laws, since its inception. He also served on the Tobacco Foundation Board for numerous years until it merged with the Ag Foundation. He was awarded the Outstanding Ag & Life Science Alumnus in Crop Science at NCSU in 2011.
His career was spent in various Research and Development roles in the tobacco industry before his semi-retirement in early 2022. He began his career at Brown & Williamson (B&W) in 1981, holding several positions in R&D, including Director of Product Development. Following the merger of B&W and RJR, he joined RJ Reynolds (RJR) in 2004 as Vice-President of Product Development. Following his tenure at RJR, he worked as a consultant in agronomy, product development, and other technical areas for several years. He joined ITG Brands as Manager of Leaf Sustainability in 2016 and was promoted to Director of Product Development & Science upon his departure from the company in 2022. Since retiring from ITG Brands, he continues to serve as a consultant to various companies and organizations and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Cabbacis. He volunteers with several organizations in Greensboro, travels as much as possible, and proudly supports the PACK!
