Bio

Wendell H. (Dell) Murphy, Jr. is President and CEO of Murphy Family Ventures, LLC, in Wallace, North Carolina. MFV provides a wide range of management services for the operation of swine and chicken farms in North Carolina and Missouri, as well as a host of other businesses owned by the Murphy family. A native of Duplin County, Dell grew up in the hog industry, where his family built one of the most successful swine operations in the country. He then went on to own and manage his own portfolio of successful farming operations, and expanded into real estate, hospitality, technology, and other industries. Dell attended Appalachian State University before completing his Associate of Applied Science degree through the Agricultural Institute at NC State University in 1990. In addition to serving on the AGI Advisory Board, Dell has served on numerous boards and committees throughout the state of North Carolina, including the NC Pork Council, the NC State College of Agriculture & Life Sciences Alumni Board, the Governor’s Advisory Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, and the Seafood Industry, and the Duplin County Education Foundation. Dell currently chairs the NC Youth Outdoor Engagement Commission whose mission is to encourage and strengthen young North Carolinians’ connection to nature by providing opportunities to engage with the outdoors.
